James S. Nesbitt Passes On


James S. Nesbitt 1938 - 2002

James S. Nesbitt, 64, of Westfield, passed over on November 26, 2002 at his home. He was born in California, son of the late George and Martha (Cray) Nesbitt, and was educated in schools in Maryland. He served in the United States Navy and then in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. He was employed as a welding teacher for the Corps. Jim was active in researching family histories, especially Native American Indian genealogy.

He is survived by his wife, Mary L. (Steele) Nesbitt; one son, George F. Nesbitt of New Hampshire; two daughters, Dawn Nesbitt and Lynn Nesbitt of New Hampshire; one sister, Susanna N. Kulp of North Bend, Washington; and several grandchildren. A memorial service was held on November 30th at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Springfield, Massachusetts.

On the behalf of our People, I wish to express our deepest sympathies and condolences to the Nesbitt family. On the behalf of the many Native American Indians that have found their family heritage as a result of Jim's genealogical research - I thank him for his life's work and contributions.
